What You can Expect?
When you start any new activity. you want to know what you can expect to happen, both in the class and out.
Your First Class
You start your training as a white belt. A white belt means that you are a beginner and have little or no martial arts training. As your training progresses, you are promoted to different belt colors, each representing your level of skill. The black belt is the highest level of color. It requires study and hard work to earn it. It represents a mastery of the basics and physical ability.
In your first class, you start to learn the proper bows and titles. You also learn how to address the Grandmaster, other instructors and fellow students. Proper respect and etiquette are important parts of any martial arts training.
After your first class, you can talk to the instructor and ask questions about what you have learned. Our instructors are easy to talk to and welcome your questions. Learning a martial art should be a positive and growing experience.
As you take more classes you will find how truly exciting learning a martial art can be. You will be introduced to many open hand techniques, katas and weapons, both conventional and exotic. As you progress, you will find that you have increased alertness, confidence, balance and stamina.
Don't forget to have fun learning!
